Actually, SillyWabbit, these are not "the people that support and influence the Democratic Party," as you described. Rather, they are the far left activists who believe the Democratic Party is too centrist and mainstream, and they are protesting because they see little difference between the Democrats and the Republicans (a point in which I happen to agree with them).

This is akin to someone trying to link the John Birch Society and John McCain. Nice try, though.

Just to illustrate my point, here are some examples of far-right loons who "support and influence the Republican Party," using SillyWabbit's terminology. We'll start with Tony Perkins, director of the Family Research Council, who argues that people concerned about global warming are unwitting dupes, since global warming is really about promoting abortion and gay marriage:

Or how about Reverend John Hagee, who travels in RNC circles and who has claimed that Adolf Hitler wass "fulfilling God's will for Israel."

My point is that you can find plenty of nutjobs from all across the political spectrum who do not speak for the vast majority of mainstream Democrats and Republicans.

"Whatever you say Mike."

What an articulate retort to a legitimate point. But having a discussion is not what you actually wanted, right?

HistoryMike, I agree with your point. Both sides have their extreme elements, and we can post YouTube links all day pointing out their silliness. Better yet, we can choose to not feed the rabbits, uh, I mean trolls.

Whenever I see these big groups of "protestors" I have to wonder....do any of these assholes have jobs? They seem to have a lot of time on their hands.

Unfortunately, many of those people are paid to do exactly that - picket. I know a guy who organizes people for these events (supporting right wing viewpoints). Both sides employ paid "protesters" to assault any important event for the other side.

The nuts are sometimes with the paid groups, but usually they show up of their own accord - because they're nuts. The whole thing is pretty pathetic. Between the "pro"testers and the nuts, people who have a real desire to protest and make a statement are completely drowned out.

Troll = An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response1 or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.2

That makes Charlatan and Prime3end my next of kin. ha ha ha

I find it hilarious that you guys think posting negative crap about McCain will upset me. He's just too boring to find shit on him. You can always watch The Daily Show for that. I find it so much more an enjoyable experience to poke fun at the extreme left wackos.

Hey Matt,
Thanks for the huge contribution from you as well. Wow! You must be celebrating. After all, that was your third comment on ToledoTalk this year! Cool! Way to go Matty!

Ah crap, I got burned by the troll. What shame! It's true that I'd rather lurk than post...just the way I am.

"I find it hilarious that you guys think posting negative crap about McCain will upset me."

Hmmm, maybe this is where the disconnect lies. Forum posters do not exist solely to upset little ol' you. Get over it. Or you could pull another disappearing act. Remember this?

"Yep, I'm gone. This is the last waste of my time I'm spending on all the nasty commenters here. as if you care. i'm sure there will be plenty of comebacks to this too. Don't waste your time, I won't be reading them. I'll be spending my summer with my hubby having good times. "

Again: as an independent I don't have a horse in this race, but as a disgruntled voter I am tired of blind partisanship and the politics of obfuscation. Neither candidate has spent much time spelling out policy issues, since too many Americans are happy with videos of aging hippie protesters and wacky millennialist pastors that help them "define" their perceived political opponents in comfortable sound-bites.

Yeah, let's really not get into a pissing match about the insanity of the fringes of our parties. The right is just as ripe with lunatics.

At least the Right can blame it on God, the left have to blame who? Darwin told me to do it? hehehehehehe

How's Cindy Sheehan's campaign going? What's that? What campaign, you say? Well, she happens to be running against Nancy "strech" Pelosi in her district. Hmmmmnnn....Why, I recall a time when Cindy was on the news each and every day, when she was bust bashing Bush.....wonder why the media dropped her all of a sudden...after following her around and lingering on her every word for several years...?
