Cover-up? Alaska Gov. Palin (R) announced she was pregnant. Local rumors suggest she is covering up for her 16 y/o daughter.

Rumors and innuendo. Emotional baggage.

....
On March 5th, 2008 Alaska's Republican Governor, Sarah Palin, announced to the media that she was 7 months pregnant with her 5th child. She is currently 44.

The controversy arises from two sources: First, Palin does not appear preganant in any recent photographs. The announcement came as quite a shock to people who had worked closely with her, and have been quoted as saying that she did not appear pregnant whatsoever during the prior 7 months. While this is debatable, you can judge for yourself here: http://gov.state.ak.us/photos.php

Second, Palin's daughter Bristol is 16 and attends an Anchorage high school. Students who have attended class with her report that she has been out of school for months, claiming a prolonged case of mono.

Apparently, this rumor has made the rounds in the upper echelon of the Alaska legislature, and is a closely guarded secret. As far as I know, this rumor has not been discussed by any media outlets, in Alaska or otherwise.

The points here are based mostly upon hearsay, and I'm not trying to destroy an innocent family. However, a Republican politician hiding a pregnant teenage daughter seems rather newsworthy.

This rumor has no substantive legs. For it to be true, there had to a home birth or other place of seclusion and a doctor complicit in signing a birth certificate. This rumor should be put to rest.

If its names we're talking about, I'd rather have a VP with a son named Track over a commander-in-chief with a middle name of Hussein any day.

How could anyone vote for a VP who's daughter got pregnant out of wedlock? How could we even start to believe that she could do a good job as VP with this in her closet?

Give me a break. Instead of wasting time on this crap and all the media showing both candidates lying through their teeth to get votes, let's find a way to start holding these lying scum bag politicians accountable for their lies. If we can't get away with it at our jobs, why can they?

Ryan: interesting you mention that. I did a google check and can't find any good definitions other than Saddam and the old king of Jordan.

It seems like a common name in the Muslim world but don't see any history. Any info would be appreciated.

Charly -- nice - I figured it would be you. Did you cite to Craigs List Rant and Rave as the mama/grama source.

Preggers single moms carried the torch for the liberal movement for years, Brittany Spears' little sister is BRAVE and Murphy Brown set an example. But, if a Republican's child were to make a mistake they, like their parents, must by hypocritical. Only two faced conervatives set high standards for personal conduct and when - being human - don't meet the standard, are demonized.

Because liberals dont set any standards or goals for proper conduct, they are exempt from a claim of hypocracy.

Ryan - Palin's kids all have names that are related to Alaska, their home, and their heritage. Do you commonly riddicule Indians, Muslims or other Native American's for their namesake's.

We know that "mother" "soccer mom" "hockey mom" are seen as insults by the bra-burning liberal left, problem is, this woman appears to have been pretty successful as a career woman and a mom. Soon you will demonize her "house husband" as a kept man. Careful he is one of the toughest men out there, commercial fisherman (Deadliest catch style) and has won the Iron Dog snomobile race 4 times, once finishing with a broken arm.

I guess that is what this debate is going to be about names and shoes. Liberals aren't too adept at discussion based on positions on issues facts and logic.

And I guess you missed the part of my post that said the names were irrelevant, but still funny.

I am sure you also then missed where the name Hussein was being called out.

Conservatives aren't too adept at reading what was actually written. They are too busy thinking of their answer to coprehend it.

Fact: She has no foreign policy experience.

Fact: Biden has tons!

I could go on and on, but we both know that whoever McCain picked you lemmings would think was the best thing since sliced bread. Hey, maybe PTA Palin can whip you up a quick loaf.

And why even bring the husband into it? I mean, catching fish and dogsledding? What does that have to do with ANYTHING?

I just can't wait for Tina Feys Palin impersonations on SNL. Should be a riot.

It was said to have been a creature from the heavens, which in the 7th century, carried the prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem and back during the Isra and Miraj (Night Journey), which is the title of one of the chapters of the Qur'an.

I kind of qualified it as rumor and innuendo. Read that part?

Apparently it's been a rumor for quite some time. Does it bear repeating?

Perhaps when someone is trying to portray themselves as moral and ethical and leaderlike... probably.

Let me quote WarBuff:

"Somebody once said that in looking for people to hire, you look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence, and energy. And if they don't have the first, the other two will kill you. You think about it; it's true. If you hire somebody without the first, you really want them to be dumb and lazy."

But if it hurts your feelings, don't mind my smile.

Smile away, you are simply an excellent exemplar of the twisted political animal modern "progressives" have become - angry, unhinged, uninformed, hyper partisan and absolutely devoid of class.

Kind of like this fine specimen from the drooling retards at DU:

122. What many here don't understand. It doesn't matter if it's true or not. RUMOR IS TRUTH.

The modern laws of media hype and political warfare have a useful tenet:

Repeat ANYTHING or raise false concern over ANYTHING and it is likely to be planted in the conscious/subconscious of many voters.

If people start to think that there might be something fishy with Palin's last kid (if hers), then that's FINE. One more doubt (whether tied to reality or not) is another hesitation at the ballot box.

GET WITH THE PROGRAM PEOPLE. The "rising above it" bullshit has served us so well in the past, hasn't it?

If you have problems with the story, then STFU and get out of the way of Dems who are engaged in MODERN POLITICAL WARFARE. Go tend your garden or some other pedestrian task, because the "concern trolls" are not helping shape the message."

Thank GOD the grown-ups will win in November, the wailing and gnashing of teeth will be too hilarious.

When it comes to science the odds of this child being her daughter's are very low. The baby has Down Syndrome which occurs overwhelmingly in women older than 35. A teenager has almost no chance at all at delivery a baby with down syndrome.

So wouldn't that be considered risky and/or irresponsible on the part of an otherwise smart person?

That's a 3600% increase in probability of a "tragic" outcome.

As far as a risk assessor, that's probably not good especially when the stakes are so high. And announcing it 7 months into your pregnancy kind of looks like it wasn't planned. Which I would venture isn't very good.

Nevertheless I hope the kid has a long healthy life.

I'm not a big fan of McCain. I'm not sold on Obama.

That being said, I think that it is very sad to use her children (or any public person's) as a target for political gain. Years ago, there were rumors that McCain's adopted daughter was his "love child."

Even if it were true, it is so sad to make this baby or the older daughter a target of political blood-letting.

And I do not share the opinion that a woman who "risks" impregnation despite the elevated chance of conceiving a child with developmental problems is being irresponsible.
Things happen. No method of birth control is 100%

This a all a good yuke, especially seeing conservatives getting all pop-eyed over rumor and innuendo.

I haven't heard any Obama is the anti-Christ, or a Muslim, or really born in Kenya and not Hawaii whispers for at least ten minutes now.

Clinton had Vince Foster killed, don't ya know, and John Kerry fragged himself in Vietnam to get his medals.

No, this baby-is-really-Palin's talk is almost certainly all bunk, but sorry suckers, what's goes around comes around, and your side specializes in spreading sleaze of this type all over the internet (the one Al Gore created--oh wait, that one's almost true, LOL) and right-wing talk radio, with occasional help from Fox News.

Enjoy the ride and the pretty family pictures that have been coming out in hard-hitting mags like People. Isn't McCain kinda leering at Sarah's backside in some of those, BTW? Well, no pantsuits for her for sure, there's a reason to vote for the ticket!!

Wow – I’ve been called a liar and a lemming on this string, a new record and great alliteration.

Ryan - I do read, I got it, and dismissed the Hussein comments. Funny names. Ok - I saw you said it was irrelevant. Just thought I would comment on your describing their names as "funny" without much info about them. I agree they are unique names.

Granted Joe Biden has lots of experience, and Palin does not. McCain has lots of experience and Obama does not. Call it a tie. Your guy will be the President, Palin would be VP. Since, I believe Biden will be a silent VP who Obama will put in a corner - I don't worry much about his influence if Obama wins.

I am neither a big McCain lemming, nor a Republican lemming. I think Palin is a risky, but potentially effective choice. I think Biden as a pick does more harm to the Obama campaign than Palin does to the McCain ticket. Both had a chance to shore up portions of their base, neutralize some of their week points, and potentially improve their chances of victory. I think McCain’s pick is better. We will see.

Since most of the public (party aside) are lemmings to the crap they see on TV and in ads, much of theses issues which should not matter - will.

By the way, since you’re criticizing my reading skillz. The Iron Dog is a snowmobile race, not a dogsled race. I brought in the husband anticipating comments about Palin not being a stay at home mom, and because (as you might find out if you do some homework), her critics in Alaska have pointed to her husband's presence and participation in state level meetings and decisions.

We agree on one thing, Tina Fey's impression should be great.

Lefty Bloggers Go After Palin's Daughter
Posted by: Amanda Carpenter at 5:47 PM
Members of the lefty blogosphere haven't stopped perpetuating the rumor Sarah Palin "faked" her last pregnancy and are now humiliating her daughter Bristol on the blatantly incorrect suspicion she is the real mother of baby Trig.

"Sarah Palin is NOT the Mother" is the title of this DailyKos blog that accuses Bristol, a completely fit-looking adolescent teen, of having a "baby bump" in a photo they allege was taken March 9th of this year.

"Sarah, I'm calling you a liar" wrote blogger ArcXIX. "And not even a good one. Trig Paxson Van Palin is not your son. He is your grandson. The sooner you come forward with this revelation to the public, the better. " Photos of Bristol with detailed commentary about her abdomen are contained in the post.

Not only is the DailyKos disgustingly inspecting Bristol's midriff with all the fervor of LA paparazzi examining J-Lo's or Jennifer Aniston's washboard stomachs for evidence of a "bump," the DailyKos is wrong on when the photo was taken. It was taken, and published, by the Anchorage Daily News in 2006. Baby Trig, a child with Down's Syndrome, was born on April 18, 2008. That's a long time for a teen girl to be carrying a "bump" which looks nothing more than the curve of a tight sweater.

Shortly after Palin was announced as McCain's VP, bloggers at the Kos started ginning up the rumor Palin faked her pregnancy, allegedly to cover for an illegitimate grandchild, because she looked so fit and trim in photos taken a few months before giving birth.

This is only the latest in outrageous attacks against Palin as a mother. Fox News anchor Alan Colmes, of Hannity & Colmes, titled a recent post on his blog Liberaland "Did Palin Take Proper PreNatal Care?" In it, he wondered if she somehow was at fault for having a disabled child. Colmes took down the post after being attacked by the blog Wizbang and later reposted a screenshot of the blog to prove he "wasn't running away from what I posted."

Update: I originally mentioned this Kos rumor in a blog post about CNN's John Roberts's insinuation Palin would not give adequate care and attention to Trig if she became VP.

You're just going to have to toughen up a bit there, wabbit.
