I thought stuff like this only occurs on the east side

My neighbor recently got a new dog. I guess since he adores his lawn so much and doesn't want the dog to ruin it, the family takes the dog for walks around the block. No problem huh? Wait, what's that? Yes, the dog takes a big healthy dump right on the road and they never bother to even pick it up. The dog is a rottweiler. Every time I look out my window and see one of them taking the dog for a walk I just know there's a pile somewhere on their route around the block as proved by driving after them. Today I saw another fresh load in front of the next door neighbor's house. I can't believe these people are so ignorant that they would simply leave the crap lay on the road for kids to step in or ride their bikes through.
Is there a doggie poo patrol? lol
Only in Toledo.

load up a bag, set it on fire and throw it on their lawn. I know this an old trick but I think they would still get the point.

People like that make me so angry. What a lack of respect for their neighbors and community! Just as bad as those that don't pick up after their dogs at the Metroparks... the bags are PROVIDED there people!

I have to say I agree with Kat... though perhaps without the fire. Perhaps leave the piles on their front porch/step. Call the non-emergency police line and report them? I dunno, but good luck to ya!

Like a new puppy, you have to break that habit quick. Next time you see that guy, tell him you almost stepped in his dog's shit. Give him the option of cleaning it up or having the dog crap in it's own yard. You will feel better, believe me.

take the high road first, if that fails, buy some gloves and decorate his car's windshield.

that should drive the point home.

Bag a week's worth and put it on the front porch.

Actually what you should do is make a bunch of little signs on toothpicks that say.

"this pile of shit belongs to ...insert address." and stick one in every pile you find on the street.

Really! Do you know how hard it is to teach a dog to crap on concrete?

Transcom might have the best idea. Like the shame lists of people who write bad checks.....nice.

If that doesn't work resort to the other options.

Sometimes I?d rather see dog shit than people walking around with bags of it. But seriously, have you tried talking to the guy?

Sometimes, people just need to be reminded of 'common' courtesy. Next time doggie goes out, talk with them and nicely remind them that it would be appreciated if they'd pick up after the dog. It might just do the trick.

If that approach fails, then I'd condone the escalation. Save up a bunch (make sure it stays fresh). Late some night, scatter the entire lot JUST outside the door they use most. (I would NOT set fire to it as KraZyKat suggested. You very well could be arrested for arson!)

(And I would never suggest somehow placing some of doggies by-products upon the cars engine so that when the engine heats up, the smell permeates everywhere.)

hey now I resent your title. Us eastsiders let our yards fill up with poo so that it stinks to high heaven.

But joking aside I would do as the others, first asking nicely and letting them know how its affecting the neighborhood. And if that does not help. Requesting the help of some of your neighbors to bag up the messes and leave them where ever they would need to step...doorways, steps, next to the car. Hope all works out well for you.

No reall offense intended for east siders, but it does bring up a good point.
I have a friend that lives on the east side and rents the upstairs of a duplex. She works at 5:30am and values her sleep. One day at around 2:30am she got fed up with the downstairs partying and asked them to quiet down. Obviously quite drunk, several of them called her a white b*tch, and threatened to beat her white *ss. She was startled and called 911. After some time a car drove by but did not even stop. She called again. This time no car came after 20 minutes. The noise continued. She called again. This is the real beauty of the story. The 911 dispatcher told her, "What do you expect maam? You live on the east side."
I couldn't believe it and suggested that she report it.
I guess I was raised under a rock because I was always under the impression that if you call 911, you'd get help and support.
The real world is so cruel.

The best part about the Toledo Blade is the nice plastic bag the paper gets delivered in. Admittedly, I have stolen a bag or two in the early morning as Fido and I take our canine constitutional through the neighborhood. I don't think the neighbors mind the loss of their bag too much, which is something you might mention to the new dog owners.

When you talk to your neighbors, you might first consider what you really want; enthusiastic compliance. Now, I don't know your neighbors, but I tend to think that if someone were to ask me politely for a the favor of cleaning up after my pooch, I'd be tempted to comply. OTOH, if I were confronted by a loud mouth who didn't like my dog, my reaction might be a little different. Remember, you can always send in the B-52s later on.

HockeyFan: She should report that remark and begin keeping a log of noise complaints. She can complain to the land lord as well, which may do more good than complaining to the police.
