i was crackin up on that one. liked the "i sold the private jet on e-bay" comment too, that had me laughing. great speech. seems like a very with-it, non-elitist choice for the next VP of our great country.

i can't wait to hear the debates, she's gonna demolish plugs...assuming the commentators aren't as biased in thier questioning and fair time as they have been in thier "fair" reporting of her in the last 5 days.

As I predicted elsewhere, she made a good speech. She can read from a teleprompter and the bar was set nice and low for an unknown newcomer.

The interesting part is that there's a good chance she's going to outshine and and look better than McCain after he gives his speech tonight.

"she can read from a teleprompter"

well that puts her miles ahead of BHO, plugsey, AND bush.

but don't you worry mccaskey, mccain will take care of business. they are both going to leave the convention standing tall with a big bump to enjoy.

all this attacking palin stuff is going to backfire.

we may even see some repeats of dan blather like public apologies and a banishment into drive-by obscurity.

I liked the one where she said "no thanks" to the Bridge to Nowhere. Funny stuff, considering she actually supported it. But it was a good joke anyway.

The only "bump" those two are going to have are the one on his face and the one on her minor daughters belly.

Yippee, she can read!

Wow - Ryan - I admit I am laughing. The two bumps is funny. Irrelevant and cheap - but funny and if your side wins - only humor will save us.

Pink - yes when the chance to bring millions to your state arises (the bridge), EVERY governor would and should say YES. Then, once the facts, logistics and POLITICS of the project are known a change in position is not only appropriate, but responsible leadership.

Notice she made these decisions outside of a state or national election cycle - where as Obama's true flip flops are purely politically motivated.

In our country - where I truly believe people are smart but the public are stupid - Image and presentation and like-ability are UNFORTUNATELY keys to victory - and she is hitting home runs in September. Plus, she brings substance to her arguments with facts and her record to back them up.

Tis true.

Liberals flip flop while Conservatives simply have evolving opinions.

Yeah, she's outright lying because it's one of the 5 anecdotes she has to cling to. She fully supported and worked for the bridge to nowhere when the US government was planning to foot a good chunk of the bill. When they pulled most of their money out and forced Alaska to pay for the rest, she took what was left of the federal money and used it elsewhere and torpedoed the bridge plans. Utter bullshit.

Red meat for the conservative base, but nothing I think that will sway Hillary voters. She did prove that she can do the job of a VP candidate, which is to attack. And being a Republican, she basically accused the Democratic candidate of being a pussy. But can anyone imagine her as President?

Also, that accent makes her sound like she is running for mayor of Fargo, North Dakota.

Solid speech. But but what facts did she bring to any arguments?? Few decent zingers, but really just the usual bromides.

As to earmarks, she was for 'em before she was against 'em. And she went so far as to hire an Anchorage-based law firm with close ties to Alaska's most senior Republicans (and Jack Abramoff) to lobby for and bring in $27 million in earmarks when mayor -- still she managed to leave the town with $22 million in new debt.

As a mayor of any town I would hope she would fight for money for her town. Before you condemn her about funding maybe you could tell me what it was used for?

That t-shirt, duh!

@Linecrosser: She wasn't ever mayor of Ketchikan. This all happened as governor (or during the race for it). She wasted "tens of millions of dollars in federal funds to start building a road on Gravina Island that is supposed to link up to the yet-to-be-built bridge."

Well, she gave her speech, she took some shots, she rallied the 'base', and now Sarah, and everything about Sarah, is officially fair game.

Blaming Democrats and the 'media' for questioning her credentials to be second-in-command because she's got a family of five, a kid with Down Syndrome and a pregnant high-schooler has had a nice little run, but the shelf life on this script is about over.

Nobody in the Obama camp, and no real media organization ever took a shot at her kids.

Yes, many in liberal blogosphere did, just as the case would be had the shoe been on the other foot, and don't anyone begin to tell me otherwise.

The second the McCain camp made it public about the pregnancy all the BS began, they knew it would all begin, and now I'm starting to suspect this was all part of the ploy, the scripted liberal-media backlash argument she could make in primetime.

She wants to parade the family around on stage for all to see for the pretty pictures, but otherwise...lay off!

But, that's all over now. They got the all-Sarah, all-the-time exposure they wanted from the start, no serious questions allowed of course, and now we can all move on to more substancial matters.

Okay, good.

I really think Renny is going to get evicted tonight on BB10!

No, no!

Tune in to the convention again tonight!

Because when Sarah and McCain are standing next to each other, in the same frame-shot, 72-year-old McCain looks to be about 105. The guy has visibly aged since this campaign started and we've only just begun.

yeah this whole campaign has been running full steam since the damn mid terms. it's getting to the point where i just want it to be December already. so tired of seeing that socialist talk nonsense about changing change for a change. and changing the way change is changed for a change.
