The Surge worked -- But it was Bush lying and being a Renegade.

Now that the surge has proven to be a tactical and strategic success, and the war in Iraq cannot serve as the Democrats main campaign cry, they are trying hard to spin it to match their theme of Evil Bush, Liar, Renegade.

Bob Woodward's new book, for which 60 Minutes gave him a launch party/piece Sunday, and the Morning shows are highlighting him about Today, claims Bush went against his military and cabinet advisers, forced the surge upon them, and ALTHOUGH IT WORKED, lied about our success in Iraq before the surge.

They of course have no choice but to try and spin the success against McCain by attacking Bush, citing the same mantra - Bush Lied (less people died) and continuing to fight a campaign against Bush, not McCain/Palin; they can't beat McCain/Palin in issues and facts.

Woodward states that Bush was lying to the American people by overstating the success we were having before the surge and claiming to be winning the war. Well, what would Woodward expect Bush to have done. Stand in front of the country, his troops and the enemy and admit defeat.

Woodward also commits treason in his interview by stating he has gained access to upper level, most secret documents and information - specifically divulging that the US has new technology to use against the enemy which is revolutionary enough to be analogous to the development of the armored tank and the airplane. He then says he can't discuss if for security reasons -- sorry the treasonous cat is out of the bag already Bob.

I also saw a democratic pundit denying the accuracy of the Gallop and other polls today - trying to deny and neutralize McCain's surge. They cite and love the polls when they work for them (and in fact shape policy based on polls) but deny them when they go the other way. Now, I know polls are suspect - but I just want some consistency from the Dems.

Over 4000 American troops dead. This is success? How many Iraqi civilians are dead? How much money have we wasted in this war of choice?

Wow we won! Let's bring everyone home starting tomorrow...

Pink --

I said the SURGE was a success. I did not state the war in Iraq is a success. Success in that conflict will neither be a traditional victory over the opponent culminated by a treaty, nor bringing our soldiers home simply to end our involvement in the region.

An end to our primary involvement in combat and insurgent suppression operations is on the horizon, however, we will and should maintain a presence in the country and region for the long term.

Even Obama says the surge has worked.

As for 4000 American troops dead, how many American unborn babies have died because democrats support abortion rights?

Sorry, TAHL but I find it hard equate less Americans dying in a war of choice based on lies a "success". I don't care if Obama or McCain call one particular portion of it a success or not

If you can forget about the wmd's for a second think solely on the basis of non-compliance to UN resolution s we should have went in 4 years sooner.

Enough already -- "a war of choice based on LIES" Enough Bush people died lied mantra.

THE ENTIRE WORLD BELEIVED THE INTELLIGENCE IN 2003! including Democrats, the French, and the Madagascarians (sp?). Was it inaccurate? YES, somewhat. So what. This conflict was necessary for our future, for our security and for the middle east, and so that our children would not have to fight Saddam (or some other radical tyrant) who had nuclear technology and could control the energy supply for the free world.

Besides we are there - the how and why is not relevant to this election - BUSH IS NOT A CANDIDATE.

THE ENTIRE WORLD BELEIVED THE INTELLIGENCE IN 2003!

Wrong again. The UN didn't, Russia didn't, France didn't, Hans Blix, Scott Ritter--fmr UN weapons inspector, the IAEA didn't, our own CIA had many disagreement. Oh----and Barack Obama disagreed with the idea of going to war in Iraq. But only the pro-war voices were heard. And many of those that wanted to invade---believed we should do so based on propaganda and lies.

This conflict was necessary for our future, for our security and for the middle east

That's a joke---Saddam was never a threat. And with the billions and billions of dollars wasted on this boondoggle, we could have invested in alternative energies years ago.

Besides we are there - the how and why is not relevant to this election - BUSH IS NOT A CANDIDATE.

No, but McCain is---and he seems VERY open to the idea of continuing to use our military OFFENSIVELY. Think "bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran." Oh that's right--he was only joking. He's always joking
