Now that the surge has proven to be a tactical and strategic success, and the war in Iraq cannot serve as the Democrats main campaign cry, they are trying hard to spin it to match their theme of Evil Bush, Liar, Renegade.
Bob Woodward's new book, for which 60 Minutes gave him a launch party/piece Sunday, and the Morning shows are highlighting him about Today, claims Bush went against his military and cabinet advisers, forced the surge upon them, and ALTHOUGH IT WORKED, lied about our success in Iraq before the surge.
They of course have no choice but to try and spin the success against McCain by attacking Bush, citing the same mantra - Bush Lied (less people died) and continuing to fight a campaign against Bush, not McCain/Palin; they can't beat McCain/Palin in issues and facts.
Woodward states that Bush was lying to the American people by overstating the success we were having before the surge and claiming to be winning the war. Well, what would Woodward expect Bush to have done. Stand in front of the country, his troops and the enemy and admit defeat.
Woodward also commits treason in his interview by stating he has gained access to upper level, most secret documents and information - specifically divulging that the US has new technology to use against the enemy which is revolutionary enough to be analogous to the development of the armored tank and the airplane. He then says he can't discuss if for security reasons -- sorry the treasonous cat is out of the bag already Bob.
I also saw a democratic pundit denying the accuracy of the Gallop and other polls today - trying to deny and neutralize McCain's surge. They cite and love the polls when they work for them (and in fact shape policy based on polls) but deny them when they go the other way. Now, I know polls are suspect - but I just want some consistency from the Dems.
TAHL

Bush - Evil genius or retarded rich guy. They just can't decide can they.
