The Lucas County Educational Service Center provides services, instruction, and coordination for more than nine school districts in northwest Ohio.
  • Our special services programs include: adaptive physical education, audiology, hearing impaired, severe behavior handicapped, specific learning disabled, visually impaired, speech therapy, physical therapy, remedial reading and math, gifted education, career education, occupational therapy, multiple handicapped, psychological assessment, and work study.
  • The Alternate Learning and Career Center works with students who have severe behavioral handicaps that have been unsuccessful in traditional schools.
  • Students who did not complete high school take advantage of the GED program which offers course instruction, career/college counseling, employment opportunities, and GED testing.
  • One of the most outstanding Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps programs in the United States is sponsored by the Lucas County ESC.
  • We also operate the most successful motorcycle safety training program in Ohio.
  • The Early Childhood Program is nationally accredited and recognized for its remarkable diagnostic team and programming.
  • Parents across the county take advantage of the Before and After School Enrichment (B.A.S.E.) Program which operates as a latchkey program year round. A 21st Century Grant project housed at the Alternate Learning and Career Center provides after school academic support through technology for students and the community.
  • School improvement consultants, grant researchers, attendance officer, and entry year mentors serve the districts.
  • The coordination of projects and in-services such as staff development, job fair, teacher recognition, community informational events, Destination Imagination, Special Olympics, Spelling Bee, Leadership Academy, and many more are other responsibilities of LCESC.
  • The Lucas County Educational Service Center was established in 1913 and is the second largest county educational service center in Ohio. We have won many Best of the Best Awards for outstanding programs and other local, state, and national recognitions.
