Toledo Blade's owner rated one notch above junk

Excerpts from a lengthy Sep 12, 2008 editorial by Michael Miller at the Toledo Free Press titled Another block in the wall, part III :

The Blade then adds, "the costs cited by United Way for demolition and construction of a new building one-fourth the size don't, to our way of thinking, add up."

We should talk sometime about the financial "way of thinking" of Block Communications, which according to Editor & Publisher is among "the list of companies whose debt Moody's now rates as junk bonds, or just one notch above junk."

Maybe "Just One Notch Above Junk" should replace "One of America's Great Newspapers" on The Blade's front page.

For over year, the Toledo Blade has been trying to save the Seneca County courthouse from demolition.

This summer, the Blade has begun a crusade to prevent the United Way from demolishing its own building. And it seems the Blade has called on some local politicians to help with the cause.

The Blade is now fighting a two-front war on saving buildings.

There are 3 sets of books. 2 you show to outsiders and 1 set that accurately reflects the finances.
