Hey anyone here have the Dish Network? Specifically TurboHD packages?
How are the local HD channels?
I am thinking of switching to Dish from Buckeye as they no longer offer NHL Center Ice.
thanks for any help.

I had DirecTV about 6 or 7 years ago and loved it. The only time I ever had rain fade was in a torrential downpour. And once when the dish got iced over. Break out the scraper, and all was well. I've been having problems with Buckeye breaking up as of late, and that's during the sunniest of days.
I really wish I could switch back, if it wouldn't cost me a bit more. Problem is, my apartment can't get DSL, so I'd have to pay the $10 surcharge for Buckeye Express. I'd come out just about what I'm paying now, and I'm not about to make a big change unless I'm going to save some coin.

Yea I am at about the same.
I would get the Turbo HD Bronze 27 HD channels + Local HD. + 2 HD/DVR recievers. for about $50 a month.
And then still have buckeye express.
Still leaving me at about $100/month.
I just know people have complained of the pixelization during rain and wind.
Do the TurboHD packages broadcast in actual 1080p as I believe is advertised? Doesn't Buckeye HD come in at 1080i at best?
Yes to 1080p and turboHD. But, you don't get your local HD's from Dish, only the digital locals. You get the HD's from your antenna, if you still have one, through the Dish receiver and they appear in the program guide. Dish does not have an agreement with the locals here for the HD's. At least that's what the technician/installer told us and that is how we view them. We switched from Direct TV to Dish in February. We've kept our antennae and rotor in good working order. So, if we do lose satellite during a heavy rain, which is not often, and much less often with Dish as compared to Direct TV, we at least can always get local channels. Picture reception, whether from Direct TV or from Dish, is noticeably better than cable. If you don't have an antennae hook up for the local HD's Dish is not the way to go.
Good to know. I don't have an antennae. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I had Dish Network at one time and dropped it because I wasn't happy with it. Every time it rained or snowed we would lose our signal, and it was alittle pricey for my taste.
Of course I know people that have it and they love it and barely lose the signal. As far as the TurboHD I have no idea. That wasn't around when I had it or they didn't advertise it as much as they do now, so I can't help ya out there.
