7% of Ohio's Land to violate endangered Species Act for 50 Years

A 12 state gas pipeline by Nisource is asking for a 50 year exemption from the federal Endangered Species Act. In Ohio 7% of Ohio's land would be exempt from the act. They are asking for a 1/2 mile easement on both public and private land with regard to the ESA,, for 50 years. At the same time, in the Detroit Free Press this week,, (Friday?), there is a 2 full page ad demanding that natural gas be used as a car fuel to save jobs in detroit, to pollute less, etc. But no mention of CO2, nor the fact that our home heating bills would skyrocket beyond the ability of most to pay. At the same time, the edison bill is going to go through the roof over the next three years, then they will be charging "market price" for energy. Its Enron time for Ohio and we are about to get our wallets raped at a time when the dollar is down 35% and the economy on the brink of a depression. T Boone has indeed been collaborating with King George and the Chennini natural gas band at Haliburrrrrrrton. Thought Enron was dead? Naw, its reborn in every utility company. At the same time the east west pipeline they are constructed will end up on the Ohio border with P.A., right where they want to build a coal to liquid fuel plant. Every single government program to deal with the oil crisis has been the most expensive long term, and the most destructive to the nation and the planet. Coal to gas, more coal, nuclear, corn ethanol. While we should be making a WW2 type effort to make solar and wind power and algae for liquid fuels, our government races to promote the things that profit their own wallets.

The way they "mistreat" current limited easements strikes fear in me as we cave in for energy at any anti-productive cost.
