Gutters!

Can anyone recommend a good company to redo my home's gutters? We just had a roof replaced and the old gutters look bad. Anyone with some insight, whether it's good or bad?

PS...I used a roofing company from another poster's experience and insight. The company worked out pretty well.

Owens Corning has come out with a new product. We're going to get it.

Oops. I forgot to include the name of the contractor my husband called to redo our gutters a few years ago.

When we get the thingies noted above, we're gonna do it ourselves.

Here's the guy we used. I liked him and his work.

Thanks for the insight, SillyWabbit; it's much appreciated. We'll consider it.

it's probably all said and done by now, but would the people who put your roof on be willing to give you a discount on the gutters because you had them do the roof?

Billy, we initially were going to wait until we either sided or painted the house to do the gutters (which will be next summer's big budget buster). After the roof was done, the old, beaten-up gutters just stuck out that much more. I talked to the company doing the roof and they gave me a quote. There didn't seem to be much of a discount, so I now searching for some other quotes.

I just hate looking at the yellow pages and picking companies blindly (I will still look at BBB). I'd feel much better if I got a company from a referral.

Please let me know who you decide on. I am in the same exact circumstance. I had a new roof put on in June and now my old ugly gutters really distract from the new roof. Since the roofing co. I used wasn't very careful and further damaged my gutters I was not very interested in having them quote me on new.

Do you know anyone that would be able to just throw a few coats of good exterior paint (sherwin williams or ben moore) on them until next year when you wanted to replace them???

Sorry just a thought that came to mind while reading this thread.

Lfrost2125, it's not necessarily the paint color or condition. They're mangled; they were before the roof job and only got worse. The hangers look like they're pieces of scrap and are also mangled.

They just look like pooh. Since it's not the biggest home improvement investment, we'd like to tackle it now.

KrazyKat, I'll let you know.

Where can a homeowner get the Owens Corning stuff. Checked out HD, Lowes and Menards yesterday and nobody had ever heard of them. We need em - bad. I'm surrounded by Oaks and Maples, which means acorns and samaras by the tons.

Have you tried MBS? Modern Builders Supply.

Also, any contractors that are approved by OC have the Pink Panther logo.

No - I havn't. And thanks very much for the tip. We'll give 'em a call.

It's available at Modern Builder Supply and ABC building supply. We looked at it this afternoon. The cost is $12.79 per 4' section. After looking at it closely we chose another gutter guard not seen in HD, Lowes or Menards. The Ownens Corning product looked like an accumulation of sludge, dirt and grit would eventually clog the foam. Our gutters always get kind of sludgy along with the usual leaves, acorns and samaras.

The prodcut we did choose was a metal mesh with a clip kind of fit, difficult to describe. It was $2.79 per 4' section. It was also much heavier duty than the stuff we had been looking at. It can't clog.
