I look at it the other way, the science points to the fact that its happened before, and that the world is now heating up which would involve more methane boiling up from the ocean. The readings they take show a new spike in methane in the atmosphere, after a pretty much stable level for 20 or so years. So would the news be likely to downplay it at the end to stop people from freaking out. I think so. It's interesting that you call the scientists who devote a lifetime to their work,, ,"full of shit", and me too I hear. I'm astounded that you put more weight on the reporters speculation that everything is peaches, when he has no scientific data whatsoever to support that. You might want to check you own shit levels.
These people are full of shit and if you believe this nonsense, so are you. Find something to worry about that you can actually do something about. These so called scientists are just trying to justify their playday activities. You'll note at the end of the story they qualify everything that's been said by saying chances are remote that anything will happen.
