Does anyone else notice that black people (teen-age) walk in the middle of the street and basically dare you to hit them? Where does the disrespect come from? I suppose from their mothers who always make scenes in grocery store lines.
Without fail, white kids see a car coming and move. But, black kids see a car coming...then, proceed to strut and stare at you as if to tell you they're not moving. Half the time they make a gesture as if to say "Come On" like they want to fight.

I really don't mean this to be racists. I encounter plenty of black youth who are respectful and plenty of whites who are not. However, it seem myself and people I know have particular had this problem at it happens to be black kids. I'm not trying to be racists...but, I can't change the fact that this is the primary source.
I've seen this in all kinds of teenagers, not just black kids. It's that youthful insolence and expression of misguided braggadocio that shows up in annoying (to adults) ways.
It's not worth getting into a direct confrontation about, especially when it happens in your own neighborhood. The twits will just vandalize your car or house in the middle of the night.
Of course, if you are forced to the side of the road, there's always the chance of timing your car's entrance into a deep puddle...

I myself have had a couple of years of aggravation from what I'll call young punks. I have honestly tried to avoid any confrontation and look the other way, but enough is enough. I've reached my limit of the police telling me that they can't do anything, and enough of disrespectful punks telling me to go f#$% myself.
It may sound stupid to those who haven't been in my shoes, but I've had enough. If they are getting a thrill or satisfaction from the fact that they can get away with it because they'll threaten a lawsuit or know that adults won't get involved, they have a little surprise coming. I'm not looking for trouble, but I will not put up with it anymore. Not in my own neighborhood.

I had this situation happen to me the other day. The sad thing is, it is so common it makes good hearted, caring people, want to run the little punks down. No, striking a kid in the road is not worth the insult the disrespect brings, but it is the primal reaction we sometimes have.
I think I will begin carrying a very soft, stuffed baseball bat or other long appendage, and just reach out past my mirror and hit the little bastards next time.
Yes, you are likely to see TAHL in the paper for this one.

Impeding traffic, loitering, inciting, disorderly conduct....there's a slew of things to book 'em on.

That is a seriously valid point. Mike, care to comment since you're the one who made the allegation and are letting this one slide?
First of all your comment shows the level of your intelligence. Secondly I live in Sylvania and I have teenage white kids who think the road is their skateboard park, so race really doesn't enter in to it. Children live what they learn from their parents. If they are not taught any better than to get out of the way when a car is coming then they won't. The reason we have disrespectful teens is the fact that they have disrespectful parents, and they come in every ethnicity.

I addressed the racial aspects of Kozz's claim, and dismissed his assertion that black kids are more likely than white kids to stand in the road.
Besides - I know Kooz in the real world, and I don't believe him to be a racist - maybe too quick with his words, but not a racist. You I do not know, at least beyond your idiotic ramblings and obsessive posting and reposting of videos you find "funny," but which many others find annoying or offensive.

I see this a lot over in my neighborhood (Walbridge and the streets that cross it). It could be related to the "poor" sidewalks we have (in some cases litter blocks the sidewalk), or the attitude of the kids (although I've seen middle-aged people using the road as a thoroughfare). But when I went to pick up a friend who lives on Caledonia (a residential street that parallels Front Street) I came across something I had never seen before: the street allows parking on both sides so it is too narrow to allow one car to pass another but that wasn't the problem. I encountered a group of young people (mostly white) walking arm-in-arm toward me. I stopped and they parted when they came to the front of my car, and then joined arms again after they passed. Fortunately, I am very patient but I seem to waste a lot of time making allowance for "pedestrians" on roadways.

Back to the question-it's a social thing. Like waiting to get up to the cash register at the store, and then looking in their pockets and wallets for the money, and backing the line up. It's a way to make people notice the situation.

You seriously believe that? because our street is very near Whitmer HS, and the ONLY kids that walk to the side of the road instead in the middle are the BLACK kids who live next door. They behave themselves because their parents (note the plural of the word, muy importante) would give them shit if they didnt!
As far as the cash register scenario, I see a whole heck of a lot more older WHITE chicks doing that than I do black teens, so maybe it's a red-hat societal thing. And yes, I'd like to pelt them with candy bars from the impulse section when they do that.

This should bring plenty cries of racism. I find that depending on the neighborhood, it's both young black, white, hispanic, etc. It doesn't matter what race, teenaged kids seem to believe that they own the road. They will not move.
I recently got into an argument and confrontation over this very issue with a kid that would not move from the street. If it is going to take an adult going to jail for fighting with a kid under 18 in order to change their attitude, then so be it. If the parents won't parent and teach them right from wrong, maybe getting smacked around will.
