There are 2 particular flavors of ice cream I am looking for: red bean and green tea. Anyone familiar with these, or know where I can find a local recipe with local ingredients?
Exotic ice cream?

I've had red bean ice cream at a Chinese restaurant in Ann Arbor 7 years ago. It was bad enough that it still warrants frequent mention. Probably once a month my wife and I recall the horrors of the red bean. It tasted like a my wife's roomate's particularly stinky bathroom candle. You could try some of the small Chinese grocery stores. I believe there are a couple on McCord, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Why did you eat your wife's roomate's stinky bathroom candle? On second thought - never mind. I probably will wish I didn't know.
Not sure about recipe but you can get Green Tea, Red Bean and Ginger ice cream at Fujiyama and Sori Sushi
wife's roommate - 7 years ago
it tasted like the candle smelled, though looking back I should have done and apples to apples comparison.

Whew! I feel better now. I know some people on here are er.... peculiar - but this was really, really peculiar. The ice cream sounds dreadful.
that must've been a seriously smelly candle. Hell, after 7 years I can hardly remember what the wife's old place looked like let alone anything in it...
Yoko on Dussel in Maumee has these flavors also.
