"MY THOUGHTS ON "COST-CO"

After paying far too much for a membership thinking I'd see a lot of reduced price'd items so they could compete with Sams or "Wal-Mart" ......!!?

"WOW" was I ever surprised to see ( through spread fingers cuz I had my hand over my eyes....nearly afraid to look at the next price on a jewelery item!!)

I had occasion to thank God my cheap little timex which was working really well, AND JUST AS WELL AS THE WATCH FOR $16,299.+ ON THE shelf,!!??

"IF I HAD THE MONEY "I'D STILL NEVER PAY THAT MUCH FOR A WATCH, MY VANITY IS NOT THAT LARGE!!

All in all My personal oppinion is "COST-CO" IS way over priced on just about everything in the store, generally $1.00 to 2 or $3.00 on everything more than "Sams" or "Wal-Mart" or ANY OF THE LOCAL STORES ALREADY HERE!!

"I WISH I'D SAVED MY MONEY" I FEEL LIKE IT FELL OUT OF MY POCKET AND GOT FLUSHED AWAY BY ACCIDENT.....!

I GUESS THATS WHY THEY PAY $11.00 AN HOUR TO EMPLOYEES!! but on their behalf, are a lot of friendly and nice looking people...

Well, thats my critique on "That".......NEXT....?

WHY ARE YOU YELLING SO MUCH????

costco is actually really competitivly priced
and unlike sams/wallmart they actually pay their employees a decent wage

sams club as well as costco both sell token luxury items.. like the watch you are talking about. it in no way represents the pricing of every day goods they both offer.

we canceled our sams club membership and plan on doing all of our bulk shopping at costco.

I do price checks on food items (kind of like mystery shopping) at Sam's, Costco, and BJ's in the Cleveland and Detroit stores. The prices at Sam's and Costco for food are virtually identical (BJ's prices are higher).

For non-food items, I think Costco tends to carry higher quality merchandise than Sam's. And the $16,000 watch is probably at least $25,000 at a jewelry store.

But every month that I'm in these stores I don't really understand why people shop at them for food. I think you can do just as well price-wise (usually better) at Walmart if you're not averse to shopping there. Plus you have the inconvenience of standing in ridiculously long check out lines and then standing in another line to get out of the store! I try to shop local for all my food so I don't shop at any of these warehouse stores. But if I did I'd probably use Costco for the reasons that UPSO stated above.

The Costco in Cleveland usually has a good price on gas -- they don't play the game of raising the price 30 cents overnight. It will be interesting to see if our Costco does this or not.

My wife took her first trip their Friday and saved about $10 vs. items from our regular grocery store.

While Costco does, in a sense, compete with Sam's Club and etc., it's more competing for your $$ with the grocery and related stores.

It's pretty difficult to shop for a couple at Costco for day-to-day items, but I do love to stock up on non-perishables and stuff I got through quite a bit... like Tabasco (addict).

I would much rather spend my money at Costco rather than Wallmart/Sams -- who are well-known to be pretty close to evil. ;)

I am excited to go. I was there to get a membership but didn’t see the inside. I still can’t believe they fit all that in Westgate. I couldn’t wrap my head around it before it was built.

I didnt realize you had to pay for a membership at Costco. I had thought about going there, but I tend to do most of my grocery shopping at Krogers or Myers (gotta love 10 for $10).

Another store I like for house items is Ikea. So between the two I'm set. The rest I can do online or occasionally Best Buy.

I only go to Best Buy for cds. I find there customer service to be quite lacking. I won’t buy anything with moving parts from there.

I only shop at BB when I need something right now, this minute; like blank DVDs or a new memory stick.

For my electronic shopping I by from CDW, Buy.com or Amazon. Everything costs less, you get free shipping in most cases and there is no tax.

CostCo is the best thing that every happened to me. You get a $10. gift card when you sign up so the membership is even less. Gas is cheap and they're driving down the price of gas in the Westgate area. Two books I purchased were both $5.+ each more expensive at Target. Video games are about $7 cheaper than BB. Sam's never made sense for anyone on this side of town. Also, they had my absolute favorite apples, Ginger Gold which I never see in town. Seriously, these are the apples of the Gods. I think in 2 weeks I've paid for my membership.
