"OUR "SAUNA"IN GRADE SCHOOLS

HOW MANY OF YOU are aware of how the schools cut back on operating costs by letting the class rooms get up to 85 to 95 degrees in the class rooms because it has to be a certain temp outside?? "BEFORE THE AIR CONDITIONING IS UTALIZED?YESTERDAY IN RENOALDS ELEMENTARY IT WAS 87 DEGREES..!!!

It seems "ANY FOOL" would know if the sun is shining on a building, even though its 79-80 degrees its going to be a lot hotter inside than outside....

"DON'T BELIEVE ME ON THIS, JUST ASK A TEACER!!

And now when it gets cold YOUR CHILDREN WILL HAVE TO WEAR COATS TO KEEP WARM !! SO THEY CAN CUT COSTS!

So what? We didn't have air conditioning when I went to school, and there were days during the winter when heat was erratic. We managed to learn anyway, and we didn't have any schools in academic emergency.

Ditto Madjack - I even survived college dorm life with no AC.

Pull the shades when the sun's shining on the windows. If your kids are cold in the winter dress them with T-shirts, shirts, and sweaters.

I seem to remember the schools had windows could open when I was in school. Is that true now? Or are the windows sealed? Also I have read that fans are more energy efficient than a/c (on this site as a matter of fact). Do they have fans to promote air circulation, or could they have them installed (maybe next summer)?

My kids don't even have A/C in their TPS elementary school. The teachers open the windows and turn the fans on.

Are kids still allowed to wear shorts to school? If so, I see this as a non-issue. Heat makes it easier to nap - lol!

I don't use my A/C when it's not necessary - to cut costs....

Maybe I can pass a levy to get A/C installed in my house and car!

I think they will survive.

I never had air conditioning in my schools either. (Graduated HS in 1992.)

Somehow multiple generations of students have survived without it.

I bet many of these students don't have air conditioning in their own homes either.

*who can't pluralize nouns properly

They make refrigerators and space A/C units. I think they make fans and cold water and shades.

They make complaint cards as well.

The heat is causing individuals difficulty in spelling words. Get a HVAC crew out there immediately!

Pssh, sweating through math class builds character.

I'm pretty sure I never sat in an air-conditioned classroom until I got to college. And even then it was hit-or-miss, depending on what building each class was in. And I never lived in a place with A/C until I was around 20 or so.

Somehow, many of us plagued with the same misfortune seem to have survived OK.

I have some old board of education books that date back to the 1800's & early 1900's - the days of Open Air Schools, I believed they called them. Held inside a building, but you bundled up good in the winter & had to help load wood into the stove for heat. When it got hot, you simply carried on the same as you'd do at home - nobody had AC, and many had no fans. I never had central AC until I was in my 30's (shade over 50 now), and lived to tell. I agree that many students don't have AC at home either. Sounds like dad's spoiled with AC (as am I). He maybe should tell his kids to tough it out like other generations of kids have - builds character. (Instead of giving them pity parties.)
