North American Union & the new currency.

Constitution? What constitution?

Our leader in chief and his oligarchy are planning the merger of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico into a single borderless economic unit. They have minted a coin, the Amero. No wonder the dollar took a dive against the Euro and Canadian dollar. Insiders knew of this, and on CNBC the other day a currency analyst was astounded that there is no media coverage of it. It has also been on Lew Dobbs, and Marcy appeared on his show. Folks, this will mean millions more illegals in our town, and a 50% pay cut for anyone who isn't already a multimillionaire. Wake up. Our constitution is being used as financial ass paper. Don't believe me, check the web. No doubt the dumbest most fearful 25% will just keep believing in Jesus George the coke headed drunken cheerleader who fights wars for oil profits for family and friends while the appointees and cabinet roll and play like drunken pigs in arms and oil deals. Time to wake up, the alarm is going off.

There was some static over this a month ago. I really dont think there's any guts to it in reality. However even if a single currency was thought up the media spun it to make it sound like the 3 countries would become a single country. That is not the case.

Keep in mind Europe has the Euro, does that mean the entire continent is 1 country?

I understand your concern, and felt the same way when I read it. But doesn't sound like it's going to happen anytime soon if at all.

So you think were going to wake up some morning and suddenly find ourselves faced with a new currency. Getting something like the amero off the ground would take years, and hard years at that, it would have to go through both houses, and most likely be ratified by the states, it would make passing NAFTA look like a walk in the park. Has it probably been discussed, sure, why wouldn't it be discussed, with the United states slowly becoming a secondary consumer market to the Chinese and the Asian market, it would make sense to try an make our market larger. Will it happen, doubtful, we'll continue believing that we are still the great economic powerhouse we have always been, even though our relevance as an economic powerhouse continues to slide.

Thanks for the Snopes lik, joshwoodward.

The global trend over the past few decades is toward currency consolidation. For most of that time the dollar was the de facto currency in many countries, but the rise of the Euro means that the dollar has a new competitor for global trade.

If such a North American currency ever takes shape (at least beyond think tanks and alarmist websites), the strongest economy (the U.S.) will likely take largest hit, as there will need to be financial incentives for the weaker economies (Canda, Mexico, et al) to join such a scheme. This was the case in Europe during the switch to the Euro, and is one of the reasons why EU members are reluctant to extend full membership to some of the poorest applicants, such as Belarus, the Ukraine, and Moldova.

While applicant countries have to meet certain economic and political benchmarks to join, the strongest economies of Europe paid a short-term price with integration, although long-term trade benefits were the selling point for joining the EU. I think it is too soon to definitively argue one way or another that the EU has been an overall success, but there is little doubt that the strength of the Euro hurts American economic interests, especially with regard to issues like the petroeuro replacing the petrodollar.

We get immigrants from Central America. Securing Mexico's borders to Central America might be in our interest.

What's this "we" and "our" stuff?

You're part of the cheap obedient interchangeable replaceable workforce.

"The people who own the country ought to govern it." was said by which founding father?

"We", as in citizens of the United States rather than every resident. "We", who can vote.
