Today on my way into work I pulled behind a shiny new TPD patrol cruiser.

My first thought was, "cool a new police car, they deserve it, and as a city we deserve it." I was all warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

Then it hit me. HOW SAD is it that I am so used to seeing crappy, broken down, dirty, embarrassing patrol cars, that this clean new one was a shock and surprise.

Toledo and NW Ohio have allot to offer (and I don't want to be known as one of the people who down Toledo as a city) but the Mayor's policies, budget decisions, politics and the Democrat's long standing control over the area make it harder and harder each day.

Vote early, vote often.............no new taxes ----- and limit the old ones too.

There's a plethora of Federal monies available thru the Justice Dept (and others) and all an agency has to do is apply.

Jack Ford wouldn't apply - for whatever reason(s).

GraphicsGuy, I've spent about a half-hour looking for any federal program that would allow us to buy police cars. I didn't find any. I found programs (especially under COPS) that would equip cars with video cameras, but from what I could find we would still have to buy the vehicles. I know there were federal programs that in the past allowed police departments to expand their man-power but that was supposed to be just temporary. We would have to come up with the long-term revenue to keep such numbers active. Who wants to do that?

That's why the CCW laws are so important. We just have to arm ourselves, and take care of our own problems. Cops are passe.

Here's the kinds of links, http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=2415258&BRD=1719&PAG=461&dept_id=25271&rfi=6, I'm finding. It is usually at 75%/25% program with the local jurisdiction ponying up 25% (do we want to do that) for stuff like communications gear and data stuff. Since we don't have wifi (is that needed?) we can't use a lot of this money. But I see nothing about any federal program to purchase patrol cars.

I think it would be cool to live an world without the need for cops, but then we wouldn't need all them lawyers and the requisite jokes that ensue.

But exponentially victimizing white collar crime is rewarded while victimless actions are treated with draconian measures.

When lawyers unemployment rate reaches 100%, the world will be a beautiful place. Like heaven on earth except I'll still wear black for slimming effects.
