Marriot on Benore

Does anyone else think that something besides a new hotel is going on here? I mean, it has taken forever to build and that has to be the weirdest spot to put a big brand new expensive hotel. Nice views – Speedway and a trucking company (sarcasm). It almost seems like a company needed to lose some money somewhere on purpose. This is a stupid thread, I know but since I drive by that all the time it just has me wondering. Any thoughts?

Actually Ryan - there are lots of potential guests at this hotel, especially during the races at Speedway and Raceway Park. While I have no idea if it's enough to support the operation on a yearly basis, I do know that the companies in the Matzinger/Benore/Stickney area were looking for a nice hotel for their visitors and the Speedway was excited about the availability of the rooms for many participants and fans who often come in RVs.

Thanks, yea just seems odd. There is a place at Northtowne and one across Alexis from Meijer, so...

I don;t want to start getting the Toledoan attitude, but I see it empty in 2 years.

With the Speedway trending more towards the touring series,I can see allot Fan's, drivers, and support people using it. Also, the hotel is close to I75, so it should get a study amount of travelers staying at it.

Doesn't the guy who owns the strip clubs in the area own it?
You can go there and ask him personally.

I though I heard Speedway attendance was dropping.

Since it's off 75, it's a nice stopover when you're going from Miami to Sault Ste. Marie. You have to go north to Luna Pier or Monroe for another chain hotel.

Marriott wouldn't let him franchise and build a hotel without due diligence. Besides, there's a more than a few businesses that don't look like they'd be profitable or very well thought out that do fine and even flourish.

Own the speedway, or the Hotel?

Speedway Attendance is dropping for the weekly events..but allot of the touring events at that track tend to pack the place, and those people would be more likely to use the hotel.

I understand the construction of that hotel has been a nightmare - for all parties involved.

I also heard a rumor that a strip center going in there with a Barry Bagels & Beaners. Rumor...

Yea – I saw about 5 cars there this weekend. I am not trying to be negative about it. I just don’t want to see another empty building in my hood in a few years.
