Wanted to share some astronomical opportunities with everyone.
The first is about public viewing from the Toledo Astronomical Association and is free:
On Friday December 14, 2007 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM (or until everyone is frozen) the Toledo Astronomical Association in conjunction with the Olander Park District will present a public viewing session at Olander Park weather permitting. Multiple telescopes will be available with which to view the Moon, the Andromeda Galaxy, the Orion Nebula and various deep space objects. The event is free and open to the public. No reservations are needed..
The Toledo Astronomical Association is a group of amateurs interested in all facets of Astronomy. The Association maintains telescopes at Pioneer Scout Reservation and portable telescopes in the Greater Toledo Area. The Association presents star parties and other viewing activities for its members, groups, organizations and the general public as well as a monthly series of speakers addressing astronomical topics.
For more information contact Frank S. Merritt, frank.merritt@utoledo.edu (419-535-8775). Or Don Murad (southview physics and astronomy) sy.donald.murad@nwoca.org ext. 6179The second is from the University of Toledo and there is a small admission fee:
December 16 - 20 8:00 PM (weather permitting)
Guests meet in the lobby of McMaster Hall on the campus level.
Admission $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for children.
As our planet and Mars orbit the sun, the distance between us can vary greatly. In December of 2007, these two planetary neighbors will be relatively close together. As a result, Mars will be shining brightly in the eastern sky in the early evening hours, and we will have awesome views through our telescopes.
Reservations are not accepted. Guests can arrive any time after 8:00 and stay for a few minutes or a couple of hours. We will also be viewing other objects during the evening.UT also has a lecture series that is free, but a donation is welcome. The next one is this Wednesday, the 12th, and is titled: "Star Birth and Star Death in the Constellation of Orion"
Enjoy!!!

Me too.
I had to chuckle as I was reminded of this post:
