Can anyone recommend a reliable, licensed and bonded electrician to do a few small repairs in our house? I'm not interested in somebodies brother-in-law, just a good outfit that can do a couple of hours work for us at a reasonable price. Thanks.

My neighbors father is Dad Patchen. I've never used him personally, but the son is very nice and I know he's been in business now for quite some time. If I get a chance to run next door in the next couple of days I'll see what I can find out for you.

Good luck, AF. If they're reliable, licensed and bonded, then it seems they largely don't want to do work on residences. We can't get one out here in South Toledo to save our lives. We have the old post-mounted electrical wires, but that can't be much of a problem since we want to upgrade the stuff ANYWAY. Still no takers. {sigh}
I've used Martin Electric, 419-893-4443.
No matter who you use - checking them out on the Toledo BBB site first is a good idea.

bbb is a bunch of bs. My dad had a bad mark cause he did some work and they didn't wanna pay and he took them to court for his money so they decided to call the bbb and put a bad mark on him. he eventually cleared it up but it took awhile

I'm sorry that your dad had a bad experience, Camaroman, but generally the BBB is right on. One problem can usually be explained because when you deal with the public you can never please everyone. However, a pattern of complaints can be very telling. I had to use them in the past to help clear up billing errors and they were very helpful.
No system is foolproof but it helps to get info from many different sources when trying to hire a contractor.
