SAVE PRIVATE COSI GATHERS STEAM

The COSI effort, according to Tom Pounds, Publisher of the TOLEDO FREE PRESS, is to be lauded, whether successful or not."Even if Jakes' effort misses its goals, he is keeping the conversation alive and making sure some spotlight and focus stays on the drive to keep it open". ( Jr. can post the entire article if he wishes. I don't know how.)

The facts are that after a slow start, the effort is gaining momentum. Local news media have made plans to publicize the effort well into January. Facebook.com continues to sign up new students to support the effort.( Some plan on contacting Jamie Farr, Katie Holmes, and even Oprah Winfrey.)

The folks in Bedford,(Toledo's largest suburb), and the folks in Perrysburg are miffed that they had no say in the matter. As Tom Pounds says:" if enough local citizens share Jakes' passion to see COSI survive on its own without a levy, who knows what Christmas miracles might be in store?"

Before anyone gives one dime of support to this cause they should demand to see the financial records! How much are the salaries of the directors of COSI? How much was the consultant paid? Based on the end result, I'd say they were all overpaid, wouldn't you? Now, well meaning souls want to throw more money their way. I believe the leaders of this "Save COSI" movement owe it to the public to do the research!!!!

Their records (and all non-profits, for that matter) are there for public consumption, on their tax forms 990, available online for free. Old South End Brady did a thorough going-through of 'em awhile back on swampbubbles. If you have questions, that is a first place to go through...

I dont know I might make some people angry but about the whole Cosi thing, what the h is the big deal? I've been there a couple times and both of those times when I was there it was DUMPY, and all the hands on crap was broken from the little hellians that live in Toledo.

So I guess I'm asking if it shuts down? It'll be like everything else in Downtown Toledo.

Or am I wrong? At saying downtown strives with new and improving conditions?

I work downtown in one of the oldest buildings down there...and there is nothing.....................our owners want to sell after the new stadium is built because then they could actually have potential buyers because our building is one of the ones you see when you exit the A W trail to downtown.

HERE'S THE LATEST SCOOP:
COSI will close its doors on 12/31, no matter how much money is raised. But,
it will re-open, as COSI, or some other type of scientific/technology facility.
It may become part of TPS.
It may move to a location near the ZOO.
The 17 alternative energy exhibits presently housed on the 4th floor of UT Scott Park Campus may be moved to the new facility.
It will become a regional asset.

Read all about it in the January issues of: Mature Living; Toledo Parent; Ann Arbor Parent; Bedford Now; toledo.com; and other local media.

Keep sending your $5.- per family to the Toledo Community Foundation. You can also donate on line at toledocf.com.

And, check out facebook.com; some Sylvania Southview students have created a Save COSI group which has grown to more than 600 members.
