The ban on inhalers was passed and enforced in 2008. My husband uses inhalers for asthma and noticed the increase immediately. The same thing happened with hair spray, cleaners, etc.

As a republican for 40 years before I became an independent I agree with Kristol's column. A mid west Ohio republican was fiscally conservative and socially progressive. When that changed I left.

I suppose it is human nature to do so, but I have noticed lately that the Daily Show has run pieces more and more critical of Obama. Now, they're never going to be as critical of Obama as FoxNews, which lives to piss all over Democrats, but I think it is indicative of Democrats disenchantment with the President. Obama gave us the impression that he was going to be a different kind of leader, but instead he has proven to be nothing more than a typical politician, and a relatively ineffective one at that. I really think that a third party candidate could do well in this election, picking up these Obama voters and the more conservative voters who don't like the idea of voting for Perry or Romney just because they aren't Obama. I don't know who that person is, but it could happen.

My questions is why aren't the Dems screaming BIG Pharma or Big Health Insurance? Nothing to do with campaign fund? Or how about questioning the huge benefit the insurance companies will receive when everyone will be forced to buy insurance.

I'm not quite sure what your point is in asking this. Obama's record on civil liberties is atrocious, as is his record on ignoring the Constitution when it comes to protecting the Security State. He's been very Bush-like in this regard. And Ace is right--the Daily Show has been very critical of Obama.

I'm very disappointed that they let money go to china to teach prostitutes to drink responsibly, and they wasted money on tunnels for turtles along with a 1,000 other stupid things.

If the Republicans really wanted to win and were willing to give up ideological purity tests, they would nominate Huntsman. Obama's biggest fear is that Huntsman would catch fire or that Bloomberg would come into the race. I think Romney concerns them, but that they aren't too worried about Perry, who really is the simpleton that Bush 43 was (wrongly) portrayed to be, or Bachmann, who has said enough crazy stuff to fill more than a few campaign ads.

And as for Obama, I really believe that he (and all incumbents) should be subjected to a primary. He should be called to account for all the promises he has made and pressed on why he hasn't delivered. And "those mean Republicans" is not an excuse. He came into office with a mandate and squandered his opportunity. If he was going to ram something down the Republicans' throats, it should have been a health care bill that actually reformed the way health care is delivered rather than add more people to an already dysfunctional system and give more money to the insurance and pharmaceutical companies in the process. I think the administration was thinking that they didn't want to try anything that might not pass and instead went for the safe choice. I think Americans would have respected him more if he swung for the fences, even if it didn't work.

Ace - I agree a 110% with you views on Perry, he would be a failure. While he may line up with my views on the 2A and some religious stances, I'm not electing a pastor or a sheriff, I'm electing someone to guide our country within the framework of the constitution. Romney and Huntsman are the same candidate, big business, big bank lovers who would do nothing but forward bailout nation and hope they could find a war that would "rescue" the economy. I like Herman Cain, reminds a bit of Ross Perot, speaks plain English and sure sounds like he wants to fix the country instead of appease a portion of it.

Obama has been a disappointment and is much closer to that of a 70’s Republican than a progressive liberal. Republicans have moved that far to the right these days, a 70’s and 80’s Republicans (Reagan) are now ‘communists’. But let’s face it, my disappointment in Obama doesn’t mean I’m going to suddenly vote Republican.

Ah yes, the deficit. Conservatives keep telling us it’s the single most important challenge facing our nation. That if we don’t do something about, our way of life may cease to exist, but when Obama tries to have millionaires pay what they were during the booming Clinton economy, they scream socialism.

Conservatives tell us the to help fix the deficit we must cut SS, Medicare, Medicaid, infrastructure, disaster relief, teachers’ pay, police pay and firefighters pay. But to ask a millionaire to pay more taxes? That’s class warfare!

About that deficit? To quote Dick Cheney “Reagan proved deficits don't matter”…He should have said, they only matter when a Democrat is president.

The bulk of today’s deficit are the result of Bush and Republicans policies, the largest of which being the Bush’s unfunded tax cuts. Now Republicans are saying FEMA can’t provide bottled water to a disaster without cutting somewhere else, but have no problem borrowing money from China to wage two wars and give massive tax breaks to the rich.

He signed an extension of the tax cuts, has upped the amount of troops in Afghanistan, put troops on the ground in Libya (even after he claimed he would not), and is building bases through out Africa and SE Asia to fly around million dollar toy airplanes. HE IS GEORGE BUSH.

It's not all Republicans fault. Obama is a 70's Republican who has repeatedly folded to Republicans and conservative Democrats at nearly every opportunity. I’ll give blame where blame is do, but to bash Obama for the deficit is asinine when you turn around and call him a socialist for trying to reduce it by putting taxes back to where they were before Bush became President.
