Jan 10, 2008 Toledo Blade article about the Village Players' production of Tuesdays with Morrie, which is based on the little non-fiction book by Mitch Albom of the same name that is an excellent read.

Yes, Tuesdays with Morrie is about death, but it's as much if not more about life, according to Larry Farley, who directs the production in the Village Players Theatre. Based on the best-selling book by Detroit's Mitch Albom, Morrie is Albom's story of rediscovering his favorite college professor, Morrie Schwartz, as Morrie was slowing dying from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

The Blade article also mentions the Toledo Rep's current production of Harvey.

The Toledo Repertoire Theatre continues its 2007-08 season with Harvey, the comedy by Mary Chase that won a Pulitzer Prize in 1945. A favorite of community theaters because it appeals to all ages, Harvey is the name of a 6-foot tall white rabbit that no one can see except the lovable but always-pixilated Elwood P. Dowd. Harvey is Elwood's best friend, much to the despair of his sister, Veta Louise Simmons.

Jan 4, 2008 Toledo Free Press article about Tuesdays with Morrie.

Unlike other productions this season, Tuesdays with Morrie is done very simply using a black box setting and very few props. “A piece like this allows us to challenge our audience to really use their imagination. Having the support of our season subscribers really does allow us to take on pieces, like this one, that might not otherwise be presented in the area,” Kelso said.

A 1995 Boston Globe story about Morrie dying led to a Nightline interview with Morrie, which led to Mitch Albom reconnecting with his old college professor, which led to the book, movie, play, and so on.

In Nov 2005 when Ted Koppel made his final Nightline appearance, Koppel featured the favorite interviews that he had conducted, which were the ones with Morrie.

Wikipedia article :

On November 22, 2005, Koppel stepped down from Nightline after 25 years with the program and left ABC after 42 years with the network. His final Nightline broadcast did not feature clips highlighting memorable interviews and famous moments from his tenure as host, as is typical when an anchor retires. Instead, the show recalled Koppel's 1995 interviews with retired Brandeis University sociology professor Morrie Schwartz, who was dying of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease). For this broadcast, Koppel interviewed sports journalist Mitch Albom, who had been a student of Schwartz. Albom talked about how the Nightline interviews led to him contacting Schwartz personally, visiting him weekly and eventually publishing the book Tuesdays with Morrie, chronicling lessons about life learned from Schwartz.
