The failed Rossford Amphitheatre is about to meet the wrecking ball. The Ohio Carpenter's Council has hired a demolition crew to take down the steel, crunch up the concrete, and level off an earthen mound that was supposed to become a 15,000-seat outdoor amphitheatre. The carpenter's union pension fund loaned just under $2.5 million to the project about a decade ago...which ran into financial and legal trouble. The union bought the land at a sheriff's sale in 2006...and now hopes to recoup some of its losses by reselling it for development. Ron Rothenbuhler of the Ohio Carpenter's Council believes the site is worth more than ever because of the recent opening of the Bass Pro store.
What was the inside scoop on that? Seems like there are only a handful acts that would draw 15,000. Why didn't they turn it into an outdoor church? They seem to have tithing funny money.
